Hand-formed Leaf Earrings

So I decided I would do some more metal working for the metal jewelry lovers! I hand-formed the leaf frames and I hand-formed the metal piece in the middle where I wire wrapped gemstones down the center.

Vintage Portrait

This was a custom painting I just painted for someone last week! I was sent a black and white vintage-looking photograph and they wanted it painted on cradle board. I really wanted this painting to keep the vintage-look that the photograph had, so I decided to use the Acrylic paint and water to dye the wood. This technique is similar to using ink with a bamboo brush and using water to dilute the ink or the paint to get different shades. This technique takes a little time because you have to do layers and then I highlighted at the end. I recommend this technique to anyone who has patience, a steady hand, and would like to relax while painting; the technique was really soothing and I really enjoyed painting this! :-)

Something in the Water

Here are two new paintings in my shop! I am practicing water because I am hoping to paint a large shark painting in the next few weeks, so here are two paintings with water! The one on the top is called "Floating" and the one below is called "Morning Stretch". I also wrote a poem to go with "Floating".

"Floating away on a bright sunny day,
the waves caress and carry me away...

Even strangers are welcome in the water.
They won't say, "work harder."

The ocean waves will always say that "You are okay."
They will hold your hand to the bay or take you far, far away.

The land has hardened it's heart and the jagged edges all dart out.

The waves dance and play, while the rocks sit and decay.
Now do you see why it has to be this way?

No more hardened rocks and decay; I am floating far, far away. "

Cute sewn paintings... I am in love!

Here are two more of my cute sewn paintings! As you might have noticed...I have been loving the stripes and polka dots! The top painting is called "Polka"! I wanted to paint someone cute and awkward...so you have polka dots, blue stockings, and a cute awkward girl! This painting was really fun and looks adorable sewn!

The bottom painting is called "No More Worries", as you can imagine, being 24 might not be the most calming time is one's life, especially just graduating from college not that long ago with lots of loving loans...haha Anyways, sometimes life is very overwhelming and we need to take a break, relax, and breathe in natures fresh air! I told my boyfriend, Schuyler, the other day... there has never been one human being who could make me feel better when I was upset for everything, some can ease your pain for a few things, but not for everything, but there has been one element that has never failed me and that has been nature. So here's to you nature and no more worries! <3

New painting! "Drifting"

Hi everyone! So this is the painting I came up with inspired by my first time canoeing! I hope you enjoy it! It is Acrylic on watercolor paper sewn onto a larger piece of watercolor paper! Absolutely adorable! I love this painting to bits because it is just so dreamy and relaxing. You just look at it and you feel like you are there on the canoe drifting away... Ahhh so lovely! I ever wrote a little poem, well if two lines counts as a poem!

"Drifting away on a summer day.
Could I stay, just for today?"

I also painted to two cutest little sewn paintings last night! I will share them in a bit!

Sewn Paintings!

Hi everyone! So I decided to make these cute, little, whimsical paintings on watercolor paper and then sew them onto a larger piece of watercolor paper, so it looks matted, clean and professional, but with a bit of a homemade touch! Plus I get to choose different color thread to accent the painting! I am very excited! I will be doing this with most of my prints in my shop as well! I think it is great, especially for those art collectors, who want cute, unique paintings to frame on their walls!

Here is one of my new sewn paintings called "Stripes"! I sewed the painting on with a mint colored thread to accent the painting and it looks absolutely fabulous!! There is just something about sewing on the painting... It just makes it complete and cute! I love it!

New Café Paintings...

Since I am at the Cafe right now, I figured it is obviously the perfect time to share two new paintings in Cafes! The one the on the top is kind of a self portrait. The title is "Lost" and the background is of  the interior of a cafe I go to a lot. I really wanted to have capture the moment of which the woman in the painting has just stopped and closed her eyes and thought about where she is in life. I blurred the background to really focus on the woman and her moment of thought.

The second painting, "Au Café" is another painting where the subject is in the Café, having a thought about life. I have kind of a "love/hate" relationship with the Café. At this point in my life, I have spent a lot of time there, and it seems to be the only place where I feel..."at home," with that being said, I also think that it has been a self destructive habit of mine. We go to these places almost daily, and pass people, who we see daily, but fail to make connections with. There are people there, but we are alone and lost in this world. All we know and call home is habit. Don't get me wrong, I love coffee... <3 Haha

First time paddling!

While I was home, I had the pleasure of getting out and canoeing! This is me with Sky's sister! I cannot wait to go again and now I am craving to paint some water pictures!!! Aghh, If only I lived near a lake or an ocean! I guess I will just have to use my imagination! hahah I think this will be my inspiration for painting tonight! Expect some paintings on the waves! <3
